SANCTIONING with OCCA

Thank you for considering sanctioning your show through the Oklahoma Club Calf Association. We are grateful for your putting on a show for the youth of our state to exhibit their cattle. We realize what a great effort this takes by your organization and all your volunteers, and we thank you for your dedication to Oklahoma’s youth! Please feel free to contact anyone on the OCCA Board of Directors if you have questions at any point during this process, we are glad to help and are available for guidance to ensure your show is a success.

Show results are required within 10 days of the conclusion of your show date to OCCAPOINTS@gmail.com.

Sanctioning fees will be based on the number of entries that have been paid to the sanctioned show staff. The OCCA sanctioning fee will consist of $1.00 per entry, regardless of the exhibitor’s OCCA membership status. The sanctioning fee will not exceed an amount of $300 for a sanctioned event. The sanctioning fee will be due to the OCCA Sanctioning Manager within 10 days from the conclusion the show. If an OCCA board member is present at the sanctioned event, the OCCA may collect the sanctioning fee at the conclusion of closing entries.

If your show rules state otherwise, you must make an exception in the following cases for OCCA members:

OCCA rules state that eligible exhibitors are between age 8 and 20 years of age; who are or were regularly enrolled in school up until graduation, if OCCA sanctioned your show, you must allow our members in this age range to show.
OCCA rules require exhibitors to show their own animals in the ring when collecting OCCA points.

OCCA heifer exhibitors are allowed to show 90 days from date of purchase on a heifer bill of sale to allow time for transfers and mailing of registration papers.
OCCA will enforce the OCCA rulebook for our members in regards to points earned. We do not expect you to monitor these situations, however if your show staff sees a violation, please feel free to contact an OCCA board member or make a note on your class sheets being returned to OCCA.

One Ring – One Day: One ring, one judge, one set of points
Two rings – One Day: Two rings, Two Judges running simultaneously on the same day
- Exhibitors get points in each ring – total 2 sets of points in one day however this is not “Double Points”
- Fit once – show twice
Two rings – Two Days: Two rings – one each day on two consecutive days
- Two judges, two separate rings
- Exhibitors get points in each ring – total 2 sets of points in one weekend

DOUBLE POINTS:

This status is reserved for the following shows each year selected for their size and competitive stature: Beef Expo, Jr. Preview, State Fair of Oklahoma, Tulsa State Fair, Oklahoma Youth Expo, and any show directly hosted by the OCCA per board approval. Exhibitors show one time but receive double the points for that one showing.

*American breed = all eared breeds e.g. Brangus, Brahman, Beefmaster, Santa Gertrudis, etc.

PLEASE NOTE: For consistency in awarding points throughout the year, breeds should be offered at shows exactly as listed above, e.g. all Herefords together, Charolais Composite separate from Charolais, etc.

OCCA requires that approved showmanship contests use the following age division format:
JUNIOR DIVISION: Ages 8-11 // INTERMEDIATE DIVISION: Ages 12-14 // SENIOR DIVISION: Ages 15-21.
Age divisions are determined by the age of the exhibitor on April 1st of the current point year
Exhibitors must show their own animals- ONLY exception is at OYE for the LNC Showdown
Each division shall not have a class of more than 16 exhibitors. If your division has more than 16 entries, you must break the division into equally sized classes not to exceed 16.
Each class must be placed from first to last and RECORDED. Class placings MUST be reported from top to bottom of class and turned in to OCCA.
Points are awarded for (1) participation, (2) class placing and (3) division champion and reserve division champion.
Show committees may elect to have additional Showmanship divisions (for example Pee Wee Division) outside the OCCA format; however, these divisions will not be eligible to earn points toward OCCA Year End Showmanship Awards.
