Plan for 2011 Sale
- Generate incentives for quality consignment and purchasing
- Futurity Show back will be offered to all buyers of cattle in the 2011 sale. The show back will be held in conjunction with the 2012 Tulsa State Fair.
- Offer quality cattle, both registered and commercial, from a variety of breeds/breeders
- Promote the sale in The Cowman, OCCA Website, Flyers, Tulsa State Fair Premium Book, Facebook and various other outlets.
The Friday-night time slot has been good and allows us the opportunity to have Friday night solely to the OCCA. Last year’s OCCA sale included: Angus Embryos, Angus, Chi, Chi-Maine, Commercial, Hereford, Limousin, Maintainer, Red Angus, Appendix Shorthorn, Shorthorn, and % Simmental Heifers as well as prospect steers.
Beyond providing breeders a great way to market their cattle, our sale also provides a means of passing proceeds onto the Tulsa State Fair in support of the Calf Scramble and the Beef Premium Sale. We hope you will join us in making this year’s sale a success.
Remember the OCCA Sale also includes a futurity that will be made available to junior exhibitors who purchased livestock from the previous year’s sale. There will be a separate futurity for both steers and heifers. The funding for this show back is provided through the $50 futurity fee paid on each consignment. This year’s steer futurity will be held on October 5, 2011 and the heifer futurity will be held on October 7, 2011.

Notice to Futurity Participants
2010 OCCA Sale Buyers:
Once again thank you for your support of the OCCA through your purchase in the 2010 OCCA Wanted Ones Sale. I would like to remind you of the opportunity provided to those that bought a calf from the 2010 OCCA Wanted Ones sale, steers and heifers purchased in the 2010 sale are eligible to participate in the 2011 OCCA Steer and Heifer Futurity Show Back. There will be two separate futurities, heifers and steers will have their own show backs. Fitting will be at the discretion of the exhibitor. All exhibitors will be required to wear the specified dress for juniors exhibiting at the Tulsa State Fair. These regulations can be found on www.tulsastatefair.com, under the agricultural events tab, where the livestock exhibitor handbook can be found.
The steer futurity will be held on Wednesday, October 5. You will be required to check-in your steer from 3 – 8pm on Tuesday, October 4th . This check-in will be held in conjunction with the prospect steer show check-in within the OK Ford Dealer’s barn show areana. The steer futurity show back will be held at 12 pm on October 5 in the OK Ford Dealer’s barn. Please bring your steer to check-in, so your steer can be weighed. You will also need to bring your official Tulsa State Fair weigh-in card in order to verify ownership.The OCCA will have a set of scales set-up at check-in. Classes will be posted outside the Tulsa State Fair Livestock Show office on Tuesday evening.
The heifer futurity will be on Friday, October 7. You will be required to check-in either on Thursday, October 6, from 5-7 pm or on Friday, October 7, from 9 am – 11 am. This check-in will be held in conjuction with the 2010 OCCA sale calf check-in. This check-in will be located in the Expedition barn, which is the same barn that the OCCA sale is located within. Heifer exhibitors will be required to present their registration papers or commercial heifer statement at check-in. The heifer futurity show back will be held at 1 pm on October 7th in the Expedition barn. Classes will be posted outside the Tulsa State Fair Livestock Show office and near the ring at 12:30 pm.
